2008 National year of reading

The BBC have launched a new initiative to promote mental well being titled Headroom. Since 2008 is the national year of reading the initiative has decided to run a project in nationwide libraries through the month of June. The public can pop into their local library and fill out a small flyer which asks them to recommend a book for reading that helped them through a tough time in their life. The books receiving the highest recommendations will be published in a short list on the BBC's website http://www.bbc.co.uk/headroom/newsandevents/libraries.shtml at the end of this month(June)
allowing readers across the world to share each other's uplifting and life changing literary experiences.
 
It would be a great idea if Muslims got involved to suggest an Islamic text which would certainly be of benefit to our fellow non-Muslim citizens in an age where depression and mental illness is on a rapid increase. Basically this is an oppurtunity for dawah.
 
It would be wise if one text was approved of and backed by the Muslim community nationwide giving it a better chance of entering into the short list. A great text to recommend would be Purification of the Heart by Hamza Yusuf. http://www.alhambraproductions.com/purification-of-the-heart.html
