A winter vomiting virus has closed eight wards at two Aberdeen hospitals.
Two wards at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and six at Woodend Hospital are not admitting or discharging patients because of the winter norovirus bug.
In total, 28 patients and 12 staff have the diarrhoea and vomiting bug at ARI, and 27 patients and three staff at Woodend.
The patients are being closely monitored. Some are dehydrated and are receiving fluids.
Control team
Clinically, no-one was said to be giving cause for concern.
NHS Grampian is asking family and friends not to visit if they are ill or until they are 48-hours symptom free.
A range of measures have been put in place by the infection control team to minimise spread.
These include complying with NHS Grampian's hand hygiene campaign, bleach washing of all flat surfaces and keeping all infected patients together in the same wards
